A fatal accident involving a passenger bus, which crashed and fell into a ravine while on its way to Lima, the capital of Peru, has left at least 33 dead and nearly 20 injured.

This incident occurred early Tuesday morning and involved a bus from the León Express company, which was traveling from the city of Huánuco, in the central jungle, towards Lima and crashed at kilometer 72, on the central highway.
It crashed into a hill and fell down a ravine more than 100 meters deep. This left it just a few meters from the Rímac River.
Regarding the number of deaths, the National Police indicated on Tuesday that there were at least 17 people, and hours later, the death toll rose. Currently, according to Colonel Manuel Lozana, head of the Highway Police, 33 deaths have been reported.
